The National Electrification Administration aims to electrify 1,085 sitios for the year 2023 under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP).

PhP1.627 billion is allocated to energize 350 sitios in Luzon, 336 sitios in Visayas and 399 sitios in Mindanao this year, subject to evaluation and validation in accordance with the provisions of the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

In a press conference on Thursday, 02 February 2023, NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano C. Almeda appealed to the electric cooperatives (ECs) to fast-track the liquidation of their previously funded projects in order for them to get another round of the SEP budget.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) announced its plans and programs that will drive the country toward achieving sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

At the recently concluded NEA Strategic Thinking Conference-Workshop in Pampanga, NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda vowed to attain 100-percent electrification in the country by 2028.

"Challenge accepted. By 2028, 100 percent electrification. Double time tayo. My administration will always be anchored in the principle of good governance. I will make sure that the Sitio Electrification Program funds are utilized well," the NEA Chief declared on the first day of the conference last 26 January 2023.

NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano C. Almeda created a new task force that will improve the delivery of electric service of Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO).

In a consultative meeting in Ilocos Sur last 24 January 2023, Administrator Almeda sought the help of the Region 1 Electric Cooperatives Association (RECA 1) in rehabilitating the lines of ABRECO. Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENPELCO), Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (INEC), and Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ISECO) heeded the call of the NEA Chief. Linemen of these electric cooperatives (ECs) will be part of the task force and will stay in Abra for two weeks to fulfill its mission. On the other hand, La Union Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LUELCO) will be donating materials to ABRECO for the operation.

With the theme "EC-ICT: Digital Transformation Empowering ECs from Future Challenges," the League of Goal-Oriented Information Technologists, Inc. (LOGICT) conducted its 3rd National I.T. Convention at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

234 officials from 84 Electric Cooperatives (ECs) nationwide attended the two-day convention which focused on the discussion of the digitalization of EC operations.

NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano C. Almeda graced the first day of the event. In his speech, Administrator Almeda expressed his gratitude to the LOGICT members for their role in helping electric cooperatives to be globally competitive.

To resolve the power supply issues concerning the Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG), officials from the National Electrification Administration (NEA), Department of Energy (DOE), National Power Corporation (NPC) and Association of Isolated Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) gathered in a consultative meeting on Tuesday, 17 January 2023.

During the meeting, AIEC President and Romblon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ROMELCO) General Manager Rene Fajilagutan raised his concern on the cutting of hours/curtailment of operation of NPC-SPUG plants.

Starting 01 February 2023, NPC will implement the reduction of electricity service in SPUG areas due to fuel supply shortage and the delay in Universal Cost for Missionary Electrification (UC-ME) subsidy payment.
