The National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) held a consultative meeting on Friday, 04 April 2025, to discuss the proposed implementation of the Liwanag at Tubig Assistance Welfare (LITAW) Program.

The proposal aims to provide continuous electricity and water access to vulnerable households during disasters, according to NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda. He emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating that access to electricity and water is fundamental, especially in times of crisis.

National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda on Wednesday underscored the crucial role of the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) in advancing rural electrification efforts during the 2025 Market Participants Update.

Speaking as guest of honor for the event, the NEA chief recognized IEMOP’s contributions to fostering collaboration among key stakeholders—including power generators, distribution utilities such as electric cooperatives (ECs), and state regulators—in enhancing the country’s electricity market.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has appointed former Misamis Oriental I Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO 1) General Manager (GM) Engr. Jovel Ubay-Ubay as acting Member of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) Board of Administrators.

Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla administered the oath of Engr. Ubay-Ubay as a new board member on Monday, 31 March 2025, at the Department of Energy (DOE) office in Taguig City with NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda as witness.
