The National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Provincial Government of Northern Samar look forward to improved electricity rates and services for the member-consumer-owners (MCOs) of the Northern Samar Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORSAMELCO) with its soon-to-rise 3.18-megawatt Mawo Hydroelectric Power Plant.
NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda joined Northern Samar Governor Edwin Ongchuan on Saturday, 09 November 2024, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the project. It will be constructed at Brgy. Happy Valley in San Isidro, Northern Samar.

At least 24 electric cooperatives (ECs) nationwide reported hefty potential losses in the wake of severe tropical storm ‘Kristine’ after initial estimated cost of damage to power infrastructure reached P70,251,981.09, latest data from the National Electrification Administration (NEA) showed.
The recent weather disturbance triggered declarations of state of calamity across many provinces nationwide—particularly in the Calabarzon, Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions—and disrupted electricity services.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has released its guiding principles for electric cooperative (EC) officials and employees, who are planning to pursue political careers in the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) as well as the first Bangsamoro parliamentary polls.
In a memorandum dated 19 September 2024, NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda reminded potential candidates of the rules prescribed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) pursuant to the provisions stated under Republic Act (RA) 10531 or the NEA Reform Act of 2013.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) and Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (Philreca) activated Task Force Kapatid (TFK) over the weekend to aid in the rehabilitation efforts of calamity-hit Batanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BATANELCO).
At least 17 linemen and two engineers from the NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) were deployed Saturday morning, 05 October 2024, to support the workers of BATANELCO, who are dealing with the effects of Super Typhoon ‘Julian.’

A total of 27 electric cooperatives (ECs) applied for state-funded loans to finance their capital expenditures (CapEx), among other projects, by end of August 2024, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) has reported.
Latest data from the NEA Accounts Management and Guarantee Department (AMGD) showed that 22 ECs borrowed at least P780-million for their CapEx projects.
