The National Electrification Administration (NEA) celebrated its 55th founding anniversary on 29 August 2024 with an off-site switch-on ceremony for its 16 millionth consumer connection at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

Household owner Lyn-Ay Sabado received the benefits of electricity through the NEA Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) implemented by the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ORMECO) in Barangay Benli, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro.

As of 30 June 2024, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) extended a total of PhP873.31 Million worth of loans to 21 electric cooperatives (ECs).

According to the latest data from the NEA Accounts Management and Guarantee Department (AMGD), PhP447.98 Million was used for the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects of 15 ECs. The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has launched on Thursday, 04 July 2024, its National Command Center (NCC), marking a significant innovation in terms of monitoring and managing the operations of the 121 electric cooperatives (ECs) nationwide.

Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda led the inauguration of this new facility located at the ground floor of the NEA building in Quezon City. The NCC is one of his flagship projects with the end goal of optimizing the technical and operational performance of ECs across the country.

“Rural Electrification is not anymore limited to simply extending distribution lines to households, but now also includes establishing systems for resiliency and energy security,” Administrator Almeda said at the launch ceremony.
