The National Electrification Administration (NEA), along with the 121 electric cooperatives (ECs) under its watch, officially activates its 24-hour power situation monitoring system this 27 October 2023 to help ensure a smooth conduct of the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

The state-owned corporation held a dry run of its round-the-clock electricity monitoring and reporting protocols last 25 October 2023, in compliance with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution No. 10924 dated 07 June 2023, concerning the synchronized BSKE on 30 October 2023.

Mindanaoans have been granted additional access to sustainable electrification as all electric cooperatives (ECs) involved in the Integration of Productive Uses of Renewable Energy (I-PURE) program delivered on their commitments, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) has reported.

I-PURE is a project funded by the European Union (EU) through its Access to Sustainable Energy Programme (ASEP). NEA serves as one of its key implementing partners in the Philippines, together with the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), and supported by the Department of Energy (DOE).

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) will soon be able to accurately map out areas without access to electricity after partnering with Cisco Philippines to develop a digital dashboard command center (DDCC).

According to NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda, electric cooperatives (ECs) with their own digital dashboards will have these connected to the agency’s digital command center.

“We can identify households that are not within the ‘gridable’ areas, or those that will not be viable for us to put up a distribution line,” Almeda told the Inquirer in an interview on Thursday.
