During a consultative meeting on 11 June 2023 in Davao City, NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda called for the support of the electric cooperatives (ECs) to help improve the power situation in Maguindanao.

ECs from Region 11, 12, and Agusan del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ASELCO) heeded the call of Admin. Almeda to lend a helping hand to Maguindanao Electric Cooperative (MAGELCO). The electric cooperatives raised a total of PHP18 Million to be loaned interest-free to MAGELCO for the uprating of their 5 MVA power transformer to 10 MVA located at Brgy. Capiton, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte. This will help address their power reliability and minimize MAGELCO’s systems loss.

Acting General Manager Suraina Kalid of Maguindanao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MAGELCO) expressed her gratitude towards the electric cooperatives.

Administrator Almeda likewise thanked the South Eastern Mindanao Electric Cooperative Association (SEMECA-Region 11), Central Mindanao Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (CEMRECA-Region 12) and ASELCO for providing assistance to MAGELCO. "Sana ay patuloy tayong magtutulungan upang ang bawa't mamayang Pilipino ay makatikim ng ginhawa sa pamamagitan ng pag-unlad bunga ng elektripikasyon", the NEA Chief said.

As part of National Electrification Administration's effort to further improve the service of every electric cooperative (EC) nationwide, Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda continues to conduct regional conferences with EC officials.
