The National Electrification Administration (NEA) congratulates Mr. Antonio Mariano "Nani" C. Almeda for being appointed by His Excellency Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. as the new NEA Administrator.

Administrator Almeda was formally welcomed by NEA employees in an assembly held at the agency's headquarters on Tuesday, 22 November 2022.

In his speech, the NEA Chief said he is greatly honored for the trust and confidence given by the President to him. He asked the NEA employees to help him fulfill the mandate of the agency.

"Ako po ay isang team player, alam ko po ang halaga ng inyong participation sa aking administrasyon. Sana po, I hope we can forge a holy alliance with honesty, integrity, dedication and determination," the Administrator said.

Likewise, he is looking forward for a harmonious relationship with the electric cooperatives, the agency's implementing arm in pursuing total electrification and sustainable rural development in the country.

"Electric cooperatives are and should be, the wife and children of NEA, so I will try my best to forge a very convenient, harmonious relationship with the electric cooperatives, so please help me. Their cooperation will matter much in the performance of our functions. Sana po samahan n'yo ako sa aking trabaho. Sama-sama po tayong pailawan ang buong Pilipinas," he added.

Before the NEA assembly, the Administrator visited the agency last 18 November 2022. He was welcomed by former Administrator Emmanuel P. Juaneza and had a brief meeting with him together with other NEA officials.

Administrator Almeda took his oath of office before Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla on 17 November 2022. The ceremony was witnessed by his wife and two sons.

From 2007-2010, Administrator Almeda served as the Deputy Executive Director of the Joint Congressional Energy Commission (JCEC), formerly known as the Joint Congressional Power Commission (JCPC), the country's primary watchdog in the power sector. He was appointed by then Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo in his capacity as the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Vice Chairman of JCEC.

Almeda was actively involved in the formulation of the bill for the EPIRA Amendments. He was also tasked with overseeing the privatization process of the various power plants of the National Power Corporation (NPC).###
