A landmark honoring the Unsung Heroes of Rural Electrification was unveiled at the Marinduque Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MARELCO) compound in Boac, Marinduque last Thursday, 30 March 2023. The ceremony is part of their 50th anniversary celebration.
NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda graced the unveiling and blessing of the "Bantayog ng mga Bayani ng Pailaw." He was joined by NEA Deputy Administrators Atty. Rossan Rosero-Lee and Atty. Omar Mayo, and NEA Legal Services Office Department Manager Atty. Vic Alvaro.
In his speech, Administrator Almeda applauded the people behind MARELCO for their commendable performance as NEA's partner in promoting sustainable rural development through rural electrification. He congratulated not only its employees but also its member-consumer-owners for actively participating in the affairs of the electric cooperative.
"Palakpakan po ninyo ang sarili ninyo, 100 percent ang inyong collection efficiency. At ang inyong systems loss ay napakababa na rin, according to the standards ng NEA, very acceptable," the NEA Chief said.
Marinduque Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr. also witnessed the event. The guests received a warm welcome from MARELCO officials and employees led by General Manager Engr. Gaudencio Sol, Jr. and Board President Noel Lontoc. ###
