NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano C. Almeda created a new task force that will improve the delivery of electric service of Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO).
In a consultative meeting in Ilocos Sur last 24 January 2023, Administrator Almeda sought the help of the Region 1 Electric Cooperatives Association (RECA 1) in rehabilitating the lines of ABRECO. Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENPELCO), Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (INEC), and Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ISECO) heeded the call of the NEA Chief. Linemen of these electric cooperatives (ECs) will be part of the task force and will stay in Abra for two weeks to fulfill its mission. On the other hand, La Union Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LUELCO) will be donating materials to ABRECO for the operation.
Before the consultative meeting, the Administrator together with Deputy Administrator for Technical Services Atty. Omar M. Mayo, Deputy Administrator for EC Management Services Engr. Ernesto O. Silvano, Jr. and Management and Consultancy Services Office Department Manager Atty. Xerxes D. Adzuara visited ABRECO’s head office on 23 January 2023. They discussed with the officials of ABRECO, led by General Manager Loreto P. Seares, Jr. and Project Supervisor Bienvenida M. Tongol, the various challenges that the EC is facing. The NEA Chief reviewed the financial statement of the EC and laid out plans on how to address the problem. One of these is through immersion wherein ABRECO will study, acquire and apply the best practices of an EC with good performance. ###
