The National Electrification Administration (NEA) strongly condemns the bombing of the tower of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte. The said attack resulted in power interruptions in some EC coverage areas in Mindanao.
NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (DRRMD) reported that a total of seven (7) electric cooperatives (ECs) were affected by the bombing incident. These were the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZAMCELCO), Zamboanga del Sur I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZAMSURECO I), Zamboanga del Sur II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZAMSURECO II), Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ZANECO), Misamis Occidental I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI I), Misamis Occidental II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI II) and Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LANECO).
These ECs were under partial power interruption immediately after the bombing, due to Manual Load Dropping initiated by NGCP but are now under normal operations after the successful restoration of the Baloi-Aurora 138-kiloVolt (kV) line.
In NGCP’s statement on Tuesday, the line tripped after tower No. 8 was bombed by lawless elements on 24 October 2022. ###
