In response to Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc.’s (MASELCO) request for assistance on the Project for Rehabilitation of Metering Facilities within Masbate City, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) coordinated a task force with volunteers from the Bicol Electric Cooperative Association (BECA) and assigned Principal Engineer Carl Xerxes D. Javillo of the Engineering Department to assist the task force.

The first batch of BECA Task Force with ten (10) warriors of light - four (4) from Sorsogon I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SORECO I), four (4) from Sorsogon II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SORECO II) and two (2) from Ticao Island Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TISELCO) went to Masbate from 19 September 2022 till 30 September 2022.

MASELCO Acting General Manager Engr. Nelson A. Lalas, together with Technical Services Department Manager Engr. Elmor M. Sese Jr. and the technical team, briefed them of the activities to be undertaken for the project like the massive replacement of kilowatt-hour meters, improvement of clustered metering as part of the System Loss Reduction Program (SLRP), consumers' voltage improvement and avoid hazardous secondary service assemblies among other tasks. Barely a week from their arrival, an improvement in the metering facilities was tangible in Tara Street, Diversion Road and Market Site.

MASELCO expressed their gratitude to NEA and to their fellow electric cooperatives in the Bicol Region for supporting their SLRP that will result to a reduced power rate. Likewise, NEA Administrator Emmanuel P. Juaneza appreciated the initiative of MASELCO and the cooperation of BECA in implementing a project for the rehabilitation of metering facilities.

The second batch comprising First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO), Camarines Sur I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO I) and Camarines Sur III Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO III) will arrive on 03 October 2022 and stay until 15 October 2022, while the third batch which includes Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CANORECO), Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO II) and Camarines Sur IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO IV) will be in Masbate from 17 October 2022 to 29 October 2022. ###
