The National Electrification Administration (NEA) welcomed on Monday distinguished representatives from the energy sector of Nepal, who are taking a five-day “exposure visit” in the Philippines to learn from its experiences in energizing remote communities amid constant challenges.

NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda emphasized the agency’s commitment to achieve total electrification as enshrined in its mandate. “The program carries significance not only for the sake of national development, but also because of its critical role in uplifting the lives of Filipinos,” he said.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) announced Wednesday that the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (INEC) will soon be integrated with the NEA Digital Dashboard Command Center (DDCC).

NEA Administrator Antonio Almeda celebrated this milestone, saying this “represents a technological shift” to how the state-owned corporation and its partner electric cooperatives (ECs) will be collaborating moving forward in terms of managing electricity services for energy consumers.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has laid down the specific financial and operational parameters that electric cooperatives (ECs) must comply with in order to avail exemptions from local taxes, fees and charges in their respective local government units (LGUs).

In its Memorandum No. 2025-02 dated 09 January 2025, the state-owned corporation established guidelines that would enable both stock and non-stock ECs to fully avail of the preferential rights granted under the Local Government Code relative to the provisions of NEA Reform Act of 2013. The NEA Memorandum was released in furtherance of its responsibilities under Joint Memorandum Circular 2024-12-001 of the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Finance (DOF).
