NEA awards outstanding electric cooperatives

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has recognized electric cooperatives with exemplary performance as well as gave citations for those with distinctive achievements during the Lumens Awards at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on December 2, 2015. The Lumens Awards is a recognition ceremony for the best performing electric cooperatives nationwide.

 

Administrator Edita S. Bueno said, “We commend all the awardees for their outstanding performance. More importantly, we recognize their efforts in going beyond their electrification duties. Truly, you are beacons of hope and guiding lights of the future in your respective communities.”

NEA, ECs energize 30 thousandth sitio, reach 11 millionth household connection

With only a few months before the target completion of the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP), the National Electrification Administration (NEA) has reported accomplishing the 30 thousandth energized sitio and the 11 millionth household connection together with its partner-electric cooperatives nationwide.

 

NEA Administrator Edita S. Bueno said these milestones reflect the “strengthened partnership of the Agency and the electric cooperatives (ECs) in bringing power to a majority of underserved sitios in the country and helping people in these communities gain access to basic social services and enjoy livelihood opportunities.”

NEA Bags Most Outstanding Accounting Office Award Anew

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) bagged anew the Most Outstanding Accounting Office Award.

 

For the second consecutive year, the state-run agency was recognized by the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines (AGAP) as one of the country’s Most Outstanding Accounting Offices during the AGAP Convention Seminar at the Aziza Paradise Hotel in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on October 21, 2015.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) now holds the distinction of being the first government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) to join the roster of ‘Islands of Good Governance’ (IGG) after successfully showcasing breakthrough results that have brought about transformations in the public sector.

 

In a public revalida held on October 20 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), NEA Administrator Edita S. Bueno said, “The Agency committed to attain three ‘breakthrough goals’ by the end of the year as part of its efforts ‘to raise the standard of public governance’”.

NEA rates 54 power coops AAA

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has rated 54 electric cooperatives (ECs) as AAA based on two rating criteria namely the Key Performance Standards (80%) and Electric Cooperatives Classification (20%). The KPS cover 32 financial, institutional, technical and reportorial compliances indicators and standards while EC Classification covers seven financially-driven standards and parameters including accounts payables to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

 

Using the KPS and EC Classification, corresponding ratings were given to scores garnered by ECs, as follows: 95-100 = AAA; 90-94 = AA; 85-89 = A; 75-84 = B; 50-74 = C; and 49 and below = D.

NEA, GCG Sign Performance Agreement Negotiation for 2016

To ensure that the advocacy of good governance in government is carried-out, a Performance Agreement Negotiation between the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Governance Commission on Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GCG) for 2016 was done on September 2, 2015 at the GCG Office in Makati City.

 

Administrator Edita S. Bueno and Board Member Victor G. Chiong led the NEA team while Commissioner Rainier B. Butalid headed the GCG team.

MORESCO I is 100% Philippine Distribution Code Compliant

The pioneer electric cooperative continues to be a pioneer in operational and service excellence.

 

The Misamis Oriental I Rural Electric Service, Inc. (Moresco I) was declared as 100% Philippine Distribution Code compliant, the first among the 119 electric cooperatives nationwide, by the Philippine Distribution Management Committee on July 30, 2015 after passing assessment and inspection according to a press statement made by the electric cooperative.

Elementary, Secondary Schools as SEP/BLEP beneficiaries

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Education (DepEd) for the electrification of schools in areas covered by the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) and the Barangay Line Enhancement Program (BLEP) of the government.

 

NEA was among the signatories to the DepEd’s LightEd PH Project, School Electrification Program – One Child, One Lamp during the project launch at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City on July 31, 2015.

Electricity comes to 4,744 more sitios nationwide

Electricity has come to 4,744 more sitios during the first semester of 2015. The National Electrification Administration (NEA) and its partner-electric cooperatives (ECs) have electrified these far-flung sitios benefitting initial consumers of 142,329 or 711,600 Filipinos nationwide through the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP).

 

For the period, Region VI (Western Visayas) energized the most number of sitios at 682. Among the ECs, Cebeco I electrified the most number of sitios with 237. Other ECs which contributed the most are Zamsureco I (173); Dasureco (158); Noneco (145); Quezelco I (140); Cenpelco (140); Anteco (136); Sukelco (123); Noreco I (122); and Panelco I/Kaelco (119).
