NEA chief graces inauguration of Iselco I's new substation and drive-thru collection office in Cauayan City

ALICIA, Isabela – National Electrification Administration (NEA) chief Edgardo R. Masongsong led the inauguration and formal energization of the new power substation and drive-thru collection office of Isabela I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Iselco I) in San Fermin, Cauayan City.

 

Joining Administrator Masongsong in the inauguration ceremony of the newly built substation on Tuesday (May 9) were Iselco I General Manager Virgilio L. Montano, Board of Directors President Presley C. De Jesus, Director Conchita M. Palencia and other officials.

NEA to coops: Bring power rates down

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) renewed its call on all electric cooperatives (EC) to find innovative ways that will pare down electricity rates for their residential customers similar to what the Benguet Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Beneco) has been doing.

 

Latest data from the NEA Corporate Planning Office showed that 77 out of the 99 on-grid ECs and 16 out of the 20 island or off-grid coops managed to sell power under P10 per kilowatt hour (kWh) to each household last year.

NEA-EC-MCO Consultative Conference ends; Tagum Declaration adopted

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte—The National Electrification Administration (NEA), representatives of the electric cooperatives (EC), and leaders of power consumer alliances nationwide pledged on Friday (April 28) to keep promoting sustainable development in the rural areas through countryside energization.

 

The NEA along with the respective delegates of 121 ECs under its watch and their associate members, consumers and owners (MCO) expressed this commitment by collectively signing the Tagum Declaration upon the conclusion of the NEA-EC-MCO consultative conference this year.

Total electrification of the country has played a key role in accelerating the development agenda of the national government. From facilitating access of rural Filipinos to basic social services, to generating livelihood opportunities in the country’s remote areas, the Philippine Rural Electrification Program has been a model for other Asian countries and has served as a reliable platform of the government to shaping a strong and productive citizenry.

NEA grants special awards to 78 electric coops for outstanding performance

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte—In recognition of their outstanding operational performance, the 78 AAA-rated electric cooperatives (ECs) have earned special awards from the National Electrification Administration (NEA) at the recent 2017 Lumens Awards.

 

The awards were presented by NEA Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong in a ceremony held Friday (April 28) at the Big 8 Corporate Hotel in Tagum City.

NEA deepens ties with power coops, consumer groups nationwide; vows energy sector reforms

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte—Motivated by the common desire to pursue meaningful reforms in the rural energy sector, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) strengthened its partnership with the 121 electric cooperatives (ECs) under its watch, the ECs' respective members, consumers and owners (MCOs), and vowed to spearhead programs aimed at addressing key issues affecting the power sector.

 

Over 1,200 EC delegates from all over the country attended the consultative conference organized by the NEA at the Big 8 Corporate Hotel last Thursday (April 27). The agenda included, among others, proposed plans concerning power distribution utilities and their customers.
