The National Electrification Administration (NEA) celebrated its 48th Founding Anniversary underscoring the contributions of the employees and officials to the agency's successes in energizing the remote and isolated communities nationwide
NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong led the commemoration of the founding anniversary with NEA Day, an-all day event that brought together hundreds of employees and officials of the agency.
This year's celebration, held at the NEA H.E.S. Auditorium in Quezon City on Saturday (August 5), adopted the theme "Still Great at 48."
Masongsong, in his message, thanked the NEA workforce "for rising to the challenge of public service in the pursuit of rural electrification." He also urged them to be resilient to changes.
"Be responsive to be able to rise above every struggle and contend with change. That is why it is good to be reminded of our vision at the NEA -- a NEA that is dynamic and responsive; a vanguard of sustainable rural development," he said.
The NEA chief likewise exhorted them to remain focused and faithful on the agency mission and vision statements.
"Ours is a gargantuan task -- that of electrifying the future by energizing the countryside. But it is also the most fulfilling job because it is a job that gives us the opportunity to shape our nation," he added.
The NEA was created in 1969 with a mandate to take charge of the total electrification of the country.
Since 1969, the Rural Electrification Program through the NEA and its partner-ECs successfully energized 78 provinces, 90 cities, 1,385 municipalities, 36,051 barangays and 118,855 sitios as of July 15, 2017. This represents 83 percent of the sitios within the NEA and EC coverage areas. ###
