Fast tracking of electrification projects in Palawan pushed

The provincial government of Palawan called on both the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Electrification Administration (NEA) to speed up ongoing projects aimed at illuminating its remote villages and island municipalities.

 

Palawan Governor Jose Chaves Alvarez and Representative Gil Acosta (3rd District) personally conveyed this request to Administrator Edgardo Masongsong who paid them a courtesy call on Friday (May 19) at the provincial capitol in Puerto Princesa City.

Around 38,000 member-consumer-owners (MCOs) from the Agusan del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Aselco) braved a rainy weekend last Saturday (May 13) to formally pledge their allegiance to the National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers, Inc. (NCECCO).


National Electrification Administration (NEA) Chief Edgardo Masongsong administered their oath of membership during the 35th Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) of Aselco that was held in four separate venues this year.

Various exhibitors both from the government and private sectors joined the event which aimed to provide a vital opportunity to inform the public of the Duterte Administration’s infrastructure plan which will lead to rapid economic growth of the country in the next six years.

Masongsong expressed interest in crafting an electrification program for farmers during his recent meeting with the officers and members of the Northeast Luzon Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (Neleca) at the main office of Isabela I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Iselco I) in Alicia, Isabela.

NEA chief leads mass oath-taking of new NCECCO members

National Electrification Administration (NEA) chief Edgardo R. Masongsong recently administered the mass oath-taking of the delegates from the Cagayan I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Cagelco I) for their membership to the National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers, Inc. (NCECCO).

 

The ceremony took place during the Cagelco I's 38th Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) wherein Administrator Masongsong served as a keynote speaker on May 6 at the Cagayan State University in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

ALICIA, Isabela – National Electrification Administration (NEA) chief Edgardo R. Masongsong led the inauguration and formal energization of the new power substation and drive-thru collection office of Isabela I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Iselco I) in San Fermin, Cauayan City.

 

Joining Administrator Masongsong in the inauguration ceremony of the newly built substation on Tuesday (May 9) were Iselco I General Manager Virgilio L. Montano, Board of Directors President Presley C. De Jesus, Director Conchita M. Palencia and other officials.

NEA to coops: Bring power rates down

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) renewed its call on all electric cooperatives (EC) to find innovative ways that will pare down electricity rates for their residential customers similar to what the Benguet Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Beneco) has been doing.

 

Latest data from the NEA Corporate Planning Office showed that 77 out of the 99 on-grid ECs and 16 out of the 20 island or off-grid coops managed to sell power under P10 per kilowatt hour (kWh) to each household last year.

The NEA along with the respective delegates of 121 ECs under its watch and their associate members, consumers and owners (MCO) expressed this commitment by collectively signing the Tagum Declaration upon the conclusion of the NEA-EC-MCO consultative conference this year.
