The Rural Electric Cooperative Board of Directors Association or RECOBODA held its 2017 First Quarter Assembly today, February 23, 2017 at Pier Cuatro Hotel in Cebu City.
Some 100 members from the different Electric Cooperatives (ECs) nationwide attended the activity. It was aimed at coming up with a synchronized and cohesive plan in implementing RECOBODA’s activities and programs that include the establishment of the National Center of Electric Cooperative Consumers, Inc. (NCECCO), the National Summit of EC-MCOs on April 26, the conversion of ECs into GOCCs, the WESM in Mindanao, and many others.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) assured the public on February 20, 2017 that measures are already in place to ensure that power supply agreements (PSAs) and other related contracts entered into by electric cooperatives (ECs) are legal and above-board, in line with presidential directives to protect the interests of electricity consumers.
According to NEA Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong, the NEA “is focused on ensuring that all dealings of the ECs are fair and transparent, and reflect the Administration's commitment to implement pro-people reforms."
Task Force Duterte Lanao Sur Power hits the ground running

Barely a month after Task Force Duterte Lanao Sur Power took over the operations of the Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Lasureco), employees of the electric cooperative (EC) are now receiving their salaries on time, as Lasureco Acting General Manager Nordjiana Ducol bared plans to rehabilitate the ailing coop.
“As a result of our active collection activities, we are now able to disburse salaries of our employees without delay. This has led to greater commitment from our people to perform efficiently and unify behind Administrator Masongsong’s thrust for transparency and reform,” Ducol said.
NEA bats for integrity management measures

NRECA presents resiliency study to NEA

Currently, NEA is developing a Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Program (CDRMP) for the Electric Cooperatives (ECs). This is in line with the Agency’s pursuit for a resilient and disaster-ready ECs in order to efficiently cater the needs of their member-consumer-owners (MCOs). The USAID-NRECA project study is aimed at providing substantial inputs in the design and development of appropriate distribution construction material standards that will address the present climate phenomenon.

Surneco team deserves credit for speedy power restoration in quake-hit areas-NEA

The Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Surneco) deserves credit for making power available in the quake-hit areas at the soonest possible time after a magnitude 6.7 quake resulted in power outages in Surigao City and other municipalities in the province of Surigao del Norte.
This according to National Electrification Administration (NEA) Chief Edgardo Masongsong, who on Sunday lauded the officials and employees of Surneco "for heeding the call of duty even if they themselves were affected by the earthquake."

NEA Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong on February 10, 2017 led the inauguration of the EC Consumer Center at Purok 5-A, Barangay Magdum, Tagum City.

On February 7, 2017, NEA Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong met some 835 officers and members of the Association of Board of Directors of Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (ABDEC) coming from 41 electric cooperatives (ECs) at the H.E.S.A., 2nd Floor, Quezon City. This activity is part of the Administrator’s agenda for the EC organizations to become more unified and stronger to confront the numerous challenges in the Rural Electrification (RE) movement.
NEA creates Task Force Duterte-Lanao Sur Power to revive ailing power coop

In a move to rehabilitate the ailing Lanao Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LASURECO), new National Electrification Administration (NEA) chief Edgardo R. Masongsong created Task Force Duterte Lanao Sur Power last January 29 to improve electricity service to consumers in Lanao del Sur.
“Thru LS Power, NEA aims to re-engineer Lasureco into an excellently performing distribution utility. Towards this end, strategic initiatives have been drawn to meet specific deliverables," according to Masongsong.
